Campaign Move 19

1200 8th September 1813

For the second day General Lichtenstein has left his 1st division isolated on the west bank of the river Danube.   His second division is a full days march away at Rohrbach.

His 1st division has orders to Hold their position in order to support 2nd Austrian corps at Raab.   The second division has orders to resupply at Rohrbach.   It does not have orders to support 1st division, nor to march to the sound of the guns.

General Wrede is aware that there is only one enemy division west of the river Danube, and he orders his full corps to attack at first light.

With orders to Hold 1st Austrian division will not be allowed to retreat until Lichtenstein changes their orders.   If unable to do so before they are engaged it is hard to see how they can survive a full days battle at odds of two to one.
