2000 9th
September 1813
By lunchtime
the rabble that had once been 1st Austrian division had passed
through Rohrbach and continued their rout to the east.
Behind them 7th
Bavarian corps deployed east of the river Danube and advanced on 1st
Austrian division at Rohrbach.
Outnumbered
by two to one General Lichtenstein could do little other than wait for the
attack. As the enemy moved into
artillery range his gunners caused a few casualties. His cavalry were less lucky when they
charged the dragoons of 10th Bavarian division. The Austrian horsemen lost the melee and
joined the rout of 1st Division.
By late
afternoon the two Bavarian divisions arrived at Rohrbach and overwhelmed 2nd
Austrian division.
Lichtenstein
remained in Rohrbach with his one remaining infantry brigade, and as evening
approached he surrendered to General Wrede.
