Campaign Summary – 2nd September 1813

A busy day as the three French corps brought up their reserve divisions to concentrate on the line Passau to Altheim to Frankenburg.

Marshal Oudinot also moved forward his headquarters and reserve.   He moved them south of the river Inn to Uttendorf.  This removed his headquarters from their central position, and placed his reserve to support 9th corps.

1st Austrian corps advanced towards the river Inn, and brought forward 2nd division to join 1st division at Obernzell.   1st cavalry brigade moved forward to recce the river and were met by Bavarian cavalry.   A small skirmish was fought which resulted in a draw.

2nd Austrian corps moved 3rd division up to the river, brushing aside a brigade of Baden cavalry in the process.   4th division was ordered forward to join them at the river.

3rd Austrian corps appeared indecisive.   5th division send forward an infantry brigade to form an advance guard, and their cavalry south to protect that flank.   However they did not order 6th division forward to join them at Vockabruck.

The Austrians are obviously unaware of the French build up south of the river Inn, and are ill prepared should the French attack.
